Ayurvedic & Unani Medical Colleges start OPDs

*Govt focused on patient-care standards: Dulloo

SRINAGAR, Dec 3: Describing the health as key sector concerning people’s wellbeing, Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo today said that Government is focused to provide patient care at every door step.
Speaking at a meeting, he said that the long pending demand of having OPD services at Government Ayurvedic Medical College, Akhnoor and Government Unani College, Nawabagh Ganderbal has been fulfilled
“Specialized OPD facilities at Associated Hospitals of both colleges cater patients in all the specialties especially in Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology and pediatrics etc,” he said.
The officials during the meeting informed the Financial Commissioner that around 1246 patients in Government Ayurvedic College and Government Unani College have been provided consultation and free medicines from November 18 to of December 3.
He directed the officials of Health Department that Panchkarma and Regimental therapy departments should be made functional in both these hospitals soon on priority basis.
Enumerating on some new initiatives, Dulloo said that for creating awareness among the masses about the benefits of AYUSH treatment the Information, Education, Communication programs have been already started.
He also stressed upon that Directorate of ISM should interact with Panchayati Raj Institutions for mass awareness regarding the benefits of AYUSH.
Later, Dulloo said that Herbal Gardens with local species have been planned in both the colleges where raw material will be generated from medicinal.
To further strengthen the health infra, Financial Commissioner issued the directions to the J&K Housing Board for completion of the rest of the pending works by January 2020.
