SAMBA, Dec 4: The Sarpanches of block Samba today demanded that Women Degree College be established in Samba block.
The demand was made at a press conference here by Ravinder Singh Lablu, Sarpanch, Panchayat Halqa Kheli Mandi Samba and he was flanked by other Sarpanches of the block.
The Sarpanches said that, the Higher Education Department sanctioned the new Women Degree College in Samba and demanded the college building be constructed at district headquarter, Samba. They also said that State land is vacant in the different areas of Panchayat. They appealed to the authorities of Education Department and Deputy Commissioner, Samba for identification of the land for the Government Degree College for Women at Samba, so that the work of the Degree College can be started immediately.
Ravinder Singh Lablu said that, the higher authorities of the Education Department sanctioned the Women Government Degree College for district Samba, but till date the work of the College has not been started. He also appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Samba and the officer of the Higher Education Department to establish the Women Degree College at district headquarter Samba, because the State land is available in different areas including, Sumb, Samba, border area and Ghagwal.
He further said that if the Woman Degree College is established in Samba the students problems will be eased.
He also demanded that the first session of the Women’s College be started in coming January in Old Court building.
Among others present included Krishan Kumar, Rameshwar, Somnath and Rashpaul.
