JAMMU, Dec 4: Continuing their protest against designating them as Need Based Teachers like daily wagers, contractual Lecturers on academic arrangement in the colleges today held a strong protest demonstration and threatened to adopt extreme step like self immolation if the Government does not revoke the controversial order by forthcoming Monday.
Shouting slogans and carrying placards in support of their demand, they conveyed their resentment against the Higher Education order 472-HE of 2019, dated 23-08-2019. They appealed the Governor to immediate revoke this controversial order, which restrains them from performing duties continuously.

The protesting lecturers, working on academic arrangement in various Government Degree colleges, assembled near the Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and held a strong protest demonstration there before taking out a march towards the Press Club Jammu.
The protesting Lecturers alleged that the intention behind this controversial order was to adjust the Kashmir Division candidates having status quo.
A large number of Contractual Lecturers, including females, took part in the protest march and the demonstration. Because of the protest march, vehicular traffic on Satwari road remained paralyzed for some time.
