JAMMU, Mar 19: Police today arrested a drug peddler and recovered 2200 intoxicants from his possession near Garhi Morh, in tehsil Akhnoor.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Jourian police post, falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor police station laid a naka near Garhi Morh and apprehended a youth, who was moving in suspicious manner.
During checking, police recovered 2200 intoxicants from his possession and was arrested subsequently, he added.
The drug peddler has been identified as Rajesh Kumar alias Radhe, son of Kaku Ram of Badwal, Tehsil Akhnoor.
A case under FIR number 52/13 under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Akhnoor police station and investigation started.
Police party led by incharge police post Jourian Hazara Singh made the arrest under the direct supervision of SHO Akhnoor Mahesh Sharma and SDPO Rayees Mohd Bhat.
