Drug samples taken for determination of strength, purity

JAMMU, Dec 10: Drug and Food Control Organization has randomly drawn samples of some formulations for determination of strength and purity.
A surprise naka was laid down at Lakhnpur Toll Post by special squad constituted under the supervision of Poornima Kaboo, Deputy Controller (Intelligence & Legal Cell) wherein trucks carrying J& K bound consignments of pharmaceutical products were checked randomly and such consignments were scrutinised on the spot. Upon scrutiny, it was found that the consignments were being dispatched from authorised dealers to the traders based in J&K under proper invoices.
Moreover, during the said exercise, statutory drug samples of twelve formulations viz Antibiotics, PPI, Steroid, NSAIDs etc were also drawn randomly from the consignments for determination of strength and purity. These samples have been referred to Drug Testing Laboratories located within the State for framing legal opinion to ascertain their quality parameters.
Lotika Khajuria, State Drugs Controller has emphasized that such exercises shall also continue in future to ensure that pharmaceutical products are being dispatched in consonance with the provisions mandated under Act.
