Like most of other projects sponsored by the Central Government mainly about providing better amenities and facilities in our rural areas, Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) too is not up to the mark in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. If available data and figures are to be believed less than 50 percent of such projects are reported to have been completed. Not only that the members of the Parliament from both the UTs have not been in a position even to identify the village Panchayats to be got under the ambit of the promising scheme in its third and fourth phases.
This all has resulted in the concerned villages to remain bereft of the benefits from the scheme. It may be recalled that the Scheme mops up resources from sources like Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) and other slew of Government sponsored schemes and programmes. Besides Corporate Social Responsibility Funds too are utilised to run the scheme to better the lot of our rural population. Only 444 projects from out of a total of over 950 have been attended to and completed which by all standards is reflecting poor state of affairs on the part of all those supposed to be the helping endowments in the scheme which we wish to be increasingly improved upon to achieve the desired results.
