UDHAMPUR, Dec 16: There is a dire need to make multiple stakeholders’ 24x7x365 Command and Control Centre fully operational at the earliest in the cities of Jammu and Srinagar initially, followed by all district headquarters wherein Traffic Police, representatives of MV Deptt, Municipal Corporations, PWD (R&B) Department, JDA/SDA, Smart City team and others have to work in tandem for successful functioning of these Centres which have to be set-up in the heart of the cities.
This was stated by Amit Sharma, Special Secretary to Government, Transport Department with additional charge of J&K Road Safety Council.
Speaking at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur today during a talk on ‘Role of Multiple Stakeholders in Successful Traffic Management on roads of the UT’, Sharma educated the gathering in the inaugural session of five-day refresher course on Traffic Regulations and Traffic Management wherein officers of Traffic Police are being trained on the subject by SKPA Director, S.D.S Jamwal.
Amit Sharma gave a detailed presentation about the role of technology, multiple stakeholders and creation of a massive awareness campaign amongst the public towards traffic management in the UT. He also mentioned about technological interventions in terms of Intelligent Traffic Lighting Systems, 360 degree turning CCTV cameras at all traffic points, Speed Radars, Mobile LEDs, Public Address Systems etc.
Before culmination, SSP Mohan Lal, AD of SKPA Udhampur along with Course Coordinator, Sr PO Vikram Parihar thanked Amit Sharma and presented him a memento.
