JAMMU, Dec 17 : The play ‘Ardhkavya’ presented at Bhartendu Theatre Festival, emerged as the strongest production at The Little Theatre Group (LTG) New Delhi which held the houseful audience captive and spellbound.
Written by Vikram Sharma and directed by Delhi based director Kajal Suri , the play ‘Ardhkavya’ got standing ovation from the audience that included participation of high-profile theatre playwrights , directors and actors from across India .
Six best plays were shortlisted by Sahitya Kala Parishad (SKP) for the presentation into which Vikram Sharma’s ‘Ardhkavya’ was first entry of a playwright from Jammu.
Kajal Suri , the renowned theatre director in New Delhi and daughter of Jammu directed the play under her group Robroo and also played the important central character of Malti Sinha. Her histrionics on the stage left indelible mark of a matured actor.
She was ably supported by Gaurav Devgun, a Delhi actor who clinically tuned perfect body language supported with apt dialogue delivery adding strength to the production. Rajeev Maini as Dharampal Sinha and Drishti Sharma as Divya Sinha , both from Delhi chipped in with classic archetype of theatre elements to make the wholesome production.
A story based on the withering relations affected by societal felonies, Ardhkavya turned out to be typical illustration of human vulnerability to certain circumstantial reasons that force man to succumb to multi-dimensional identities. The play highlights the damaging component that ruins a family of four bonded in love-hate relationship.
The marvelously highlighted set and a Doll House in the backdrop holding masks hanging loose gave a telling impetus to the production. Shades of grey interspersed throughout were given a controlling effect by lights handled by Sunil Chauhan that added colours to the withering legacy of Sinhas.
Vineet Balain on music rendered soulful rhythm to the production which had the undertones of rising and falling moral fiber of the story.
A big assembly of Robroo family joined off-stage in different roles in helping make ‘Ardhkavya’ a tremendous and successful production.
