RAMBAN, Dec 17: Session Judge Ramban Kishore Kumar has initiated contempt proceedings against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range for not executing arrest-cum-non-bailable warrant.
As per official sources, a case under FIR Number 163/17 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Banihal against Abid Ahmed. Arrest-cum-non bailable warrant was issued against two prosecution witnesses Inspector Aijaz Ahmed Wani and Pawan Kumar Abrol, Scientist FSL Jammu to arrest them and produce them before the court on 16-12-2019.
The warrant could not be executed by the DIG. Session Judge Kishore Kumar took serious note for non compliance of court order and initiated contempt proceedings against DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, official sources stated.
A notice number 489/PDS Ramban dated 17-12-2019 was handed over to CPO Ishtayaq Bhatti by the court for further compliance.
The DIG has been directed to appear before the Session Court on 07-01-2020 to explain why contempt proceedings could not be initiated against him for non-compliance of court order, sources informed.
