Protest rally taken out to oppose CAB, atrocities against students

KARGIL, Dec 17: A peaceful rally was taken out today from Jamia Masjid Kargil here to oppose Citizenship (Amendment) Bill here.
The procession passed through the market up to Islamia School Chowk and returned to culminate at Lal Chowk where the rally was addressed by Organisers.
In his address, Hajjatul Islam Sheikh Mohammad Sadiq Rajaie Chairman Imam Khomenie Memorial Trust Kargil on behalf of Muslims of Ladakh opposed the recent Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 enacted by the Central Government allowing selective provision of citizenship on religious grounds barring Muslims. He also condemned of targeting minority institutions of Jamia Milia Islamia Delhi and Aligarh Muslim University (UP) and use of undue force on students damaging sanctity of University Campuses.
He criticized the lack of coordination between the UTs of J&K and Ladakh due to which the traffic at Zojila Pass was put in chaos and confusion which resulted in closure of Zojila by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir unilaterally. This lack of understanding has resulted in stranding of hundreds of vehicles of Ladakh on Kashmir, he added.
He emphasised on arranging essential goods which are short in supply in their market.
Mentioning local issues Sheikh Sadiq Rajaie expressed dismay on the shortage of supply in market. He also said that the people of Kargil are dismayed on the lukewarm response from LG and Ladakh UT Administration to Kargil sufferings.
Haji Mohammad Baqir Member Guardian Council IKMT said that the Bill is not acceptable in the present form. He also condemned police atrocities and use of force on students of Jamia Milia Islamia Delhi.
Hajjatul Islam Sheikh Bashir Shakir Vice Chairman IKMT also reiterated the demands of Kargil put forth by JAC which should be responded without further delay and supported the demand of inclusion of UT Ladakh in the 6th Schedule of Constitution.

Later, the procession dispersed peacefully.
