Traffic lights stop blinking

Sir,
Last year in the month of September, when the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar witnessed the blinking of traffic lights, the Traffic Department claimed that they would regulate traffic in a better way and traffic movement would improve in the State.
The traffic movement got streamlined to some extent. But this trend remained for a little time. It is quite strange that except Bikram Chowk, Satwari and one or two chowks there and there, traffic lights are not functioning. This has brought the situation to back to bad days.
The traffic jams tasting for more than an hour are marking their presence again. This is adding to the woes of commuters, school going children and patients.
There is urgent need to make the traffic light functional in view of increasing number of vehicles in the State.

Sir,
‘Char din ki chandi, phir andri raat’, this is how one can describe the functioning of traffic lights in the Jammu city. The traffic lights at many squares in the city of temples have stopped blinking.
One does not the reasons behind this. It was reported some time back in this newspaper that instead of clearing traffic jams, traffic signals created long queues of vehicles. This only added to the woes of people and nothing else.
One wonders why these lights were installed without proper survey at first place. It involved lot of money which is taxpayers money and should have been spent judiciously.
The people had started getting used to observing traffic lights. One would get delighted when one would see people waiting patiently at squares to see their colour of light. It seems we are back to square one  and there is no hope that the traffic movement in the city would ever get streamlined
We are gradually losing traffic sense, and that is why there is too much chaos on the roads these days.
