JAMMU, Dec 19: Private Schools Association, Jammu has demanded exemption from Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) to all the establishments, which have engaged less than 20 workers in the newly created UT of J&K.

Addressing a press conference, president of the PSA, Kamal Gupta sought clarification over extending the provisions to J&K through Central EPFO to all the establishments, employing ten or more persons in J&K following abrogation of Article 370.
“Central EPFO department till date has not bothered to issue any notification to clarify the future of already deposited CPF amount which is lying with the J&K State Employees Provident Fund Organization, procedure of its withdrawal, terms & conditions of already serving employees and their pension benefits, percentage of breakup and liabilities of the new department etc,” he said and appealed to all institutions of J&K, which have less than twenty employees, not to deposit contribution hastily in Central EPFO as all such establishments do not fall in the criteria fixed under ‘The Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme,1952′.
PSA general Ajay Gupta drew attention towards the alleged harassment to private schools in the name of NOC by Traffic Department. “Most of these schools in J&K are functioning in hilly reaches having no road connectivity or in the densely populated areas. Such type of hostile attitude without concrete Educational policy on schools is fraught with danger,” he said and demanded relaxation for all private schools from NOC from Traffic Police Department.
Rameshwar Mengi, Vice President PSA, also addressed the press conference and said that despite big contribution of the private schools towards spreading education in the society and rendering yeomen service, the Government administration was insensitive towards their issues.
