SAMBA, Dec 19: A delegation of the Sarpanches and Panches of block Nud today met with Deputy Commissioner Samba, Rohit Khajuria and said that they will not allow mining from river Nud and Rui Nallah falling in Samba district.
A delegation of local people headed by Panches and Sarpanches of the hilly block Nud of district Samba met DC Samba regarding their problems. The delegation while explaining its problem to DC said that even though the administration has removed notices for tenders for mining from Kappa Nallah and Nada Nallah, they will not allow mining from these nallas.
They demanded that Samba administration should not allow mining from these nallahs as this would cause a famine and water scarcity in the area. Sarpanches said that even before this, about 15 years ago there was mining from the drains and at that time there was an outcry over water in the area. People warned that the administration should not call tenders and even if tenders are called people will not allow mining.
Among others present included Deedar Singh and BDC chairman of the area Dev Raj, Numberdar Sardar Singh, Sarpanch Surindra Singh, Sarpanch Sunil Chaudhary, Sarpanch Ramesh Singh, Sunil Sharma, Tony, Digi Sharma and Karnail Singh.
