While addressing the gathering Gulam Navi Malik, State secretary of Communist Party of India (M) condemned BJP Government for getting the Discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Bill hurriedly passed by the Parliament and converting it as an Act after immediate Presidential assent, adding that this is the discriminatory Act in the country’s Legislative history. He said it is an attack on the secular, democratic and equality based inclusive foundation of the constitutions of India.
He said the working class of the country, which is already battling against the aggressive neoliberal policy regime must rise to the occasion and defeat the BJP Government’s machination to divide the people and suppress their movement against economic and social exploitation and repression.
Sham Parsad Kesar, Regional secretary said that despite CAB becoming a law its implementation can be defeated by the people through united struggle at every stage and in every front. He said people are already on the street in different parts of the country opposing the Act. Trade union movement must take the lead.
Kesar said that on this day, December 19, 1927, Ram Prasad Bismil, who rendered the inspiring patriotic call rousing the Indian people in the freedom struggle, ‘Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna’ was hanged at the Gorakhpur jail. Ashfaqulla Khan, a co-accused, was hanged at the Faizabad jail and another co-accused Roshan Singh was hanged at the Naini jail. This unity, over riding religious affiliations won India its freedom from the British. This, today, is being ruptured by the RSS-BJP.
Om Parkash, general secretary, State CITU strongly opposed the bill and said that this Act links citizenship with the religious affiliation of an individual and aims to further sharpen the communal divide in the country which dangerously detrimental to the unity and integrity of our country.
