BMS demands Rs 503 minimum wages in J&K UT

JAMMU, Dec 19: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh J&K has urged upon the UT Administration to increase the Minimum Wages of the workers to Rs 503 per day in J&K also as per Central norms.
A deputation of Bhartiya Mazdor Sangh, lead by Ashok Choudhary general secretary, Harbans Choudhary vice president, Rohit Seth and Shamsher Chand met with the Commissioner/ Secretary Labour and employment in the Civil Secretariat and submitted memorandum regarding implementation of Central rates of minimum wages at par with UT.
They apprised that since Govt has implemented Central Pay scales to all the Govt employees with great fun and fare with the plea that Jammu and Kashmir has become Union Territory (U.T), but it is strange that Minimum wages notification has not been issued so for and thousands of workers working in the private and public sector, daily wagers etc are waiting for issuance of notification for revised rates of minimum wages. The Secretary Labour assured that Govt is working on this and in near feature this will be implemented.
