JAMMU, Dec 20: In connection with performance of annual hawan a grand religious function was organised by Temples and Shrines Prabandhak Committee (TSPC), Tral, Awantipora at Sharda Temple Bantalab on the occasion of Mahakali Jayanti.
A large number of devotees attended the function especially belonging to Tral and Awantipora area of South Kashmir district of Pulwama. After Puranahuti the devotees were served with prashad. On the occasion a Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Committee was also held in which the president of the Committee highlighted the working and achievements.
The religious scholars threw light on various Tirath Satahals of Tral. They said Tral is also known as Panjtirthi. The famous Navdal Shrine which also is situated in Tral is a revered shrine which dates back to the Puranic period. As per tradition the annual Amarnath pilgrimage culminates at this shrine with immersion of relics by the pilgrims and taking of did in the holy spring and paying obeisance to ancient ShivLingam there.
Besides, the Ganesh Bal, Mahakali shrine, Navdal, Gouri Shouri and Narayan Nag are also situated in Tral tehsil where annual religious congregations were held and devotees used to visit to pay their obeisance.
The Committee also demanded development and preservation of all these shrines in the tehsil.
Dr S L Kachroo, Bushan Lal Raina, Subash Bhat, Rattan Lal Bhat and Maharaj Krishan Pandita acted as Yajmans of the Hawan.
