“The AILU felt deeply concerned over the downgrading of the Jammu and Kashmir State , which was created by great efforts of the people living here, particularly the Dogras. The present Union Govt, without discussing the matter with the representatives or with the people, or referring the matter to any committee, arbitrarily downgraded the State without any reasonable justification and removed the State Constitution, repealed 153+11 State made laws, retained 166 State laws and introduced 166 Central laws. This created further anomalies like winding up of Accountability Commission, Human Right Commission, Forums under Consumer Protection Act etc,” said Jalmeria and also resented handing over registration of documents to Revenue officers and proposed shifting of High Court from its present Janipura location to Raika Forest.
During the meeting, he added, the AILU also discussed preparations for the All India Conference of the Union, which is going to be held at Kochi in Kerala on December 27-29, 2019.
The meeting was presided over by president of the J&K unit, Hari Chand Jalmeria and participated by Advocates B L Kalgotra, B S Manhas, Roop Lal, Surinder Kour, K M Bhatti, Shakeel Ahmed, Hari Om Singh, Anil John, Amrit Sarin, Mohd Rashid Qureshi, Surjit Singh Andotra, Supriva Chouhan, Aslarn Bhatt, A H Qazi and others.
