JAMMU, Dec 22: Jammu Province Peoples Forum (JPPF) while appreciating the enactment of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019 expressed its confidence that the Act in no way will discriminate against any one on the basis of religion.
Addressing the meeting of the Forum here, today president JPPF and retired District Judge, Pavitar Singh Bharadwaj strongly condemned the violent protests and vandalism causing massive damage and loss to the public property and creating unnecessarily problems for the innocent people. “There is dire need to initiate awareness campaign on the disinformation and misguidance on CAA being spread across the country just to trigger violence and unrest”, he added.
Citizenship Amendment Act is not against any community and in fact it has nothing to do with Indian citizens irrespective of their religion and affiliation, Pavitter Singh said, adding it is an attempt to help persecuted minorities who have been victims in their neighbouring Islamic nations.
According the amended Act six non Muslim community refugees who came to India before December 2014 to escape religious persecution in Pakistan , Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be granted Indian citizenship, he said and added Misinformation is being fanned by vested interests to communalise the issue.
Pavitar Singh has proposed deliberations and discussions with the leadership of Muslim community and to reach out at common consensus for the communal harmony and peace within the ambit of security and sovereignty of the country. He further appealed the members of Muslim community not to be swayed by rumors and patiently understand the issue that there is nothing adverse against the Muslims living in the country and they should not involve themselves in anti national activities and violent protests by some vested interests including politicians. He said their contribution in maintaining peace and harmony is the basic requirement at the moment to maintain law and order.
He said there is utmost need to repatriate over 40,000 Rohingyas from the J&K UT who of late have become a nuisance and pose a threat to national security. They have indulged in some crimes even of anti national nature and their immediate ouster will be in the larger interests of the nation, he added.
