Manohar expresses concern over heavy firing by Pak along IB villages

JAMMU, Dec 22: Former Minister and President DCC Kathua Dr Manohar Lal Sharma expressed concern on unprovoked heavy firing by Pakistani troops along the villages on International Border such as Rathua, Chann Lal Din, Manyari and Pansar of Hiranagar Sector of district Kathua.
While pointing issue, Dr Sharma criticized Pakistan for violating ceasefire and lambasted Government and administration for not paying attention and concern for people residing along IB and further said major priority of Government should be rehabilitation of cross border firing victims to the safer places.
He said till now many villages are without bunkers and people residing on IB are waiting for safe places for residing as promised by the Government. He said Union Minister Jitendra Singh promised Rs 5 lakh cash and 5 marlas plot each at safer places to the cross border firing affected people but till now people has got nothing.
He said that kiths and kins of those who have died in cross border firing are still waiting for rehabilitation/jobs to next of kin but neither they have been provided the job or 5 marlas plots at safe places by the Government.
To point in particular a case of deceased Ram Paul, son of Tillo Ram of Londi Tehsil Hiranagar, died in cross border firing on May 23, 2018 but till now his family has not got the promised compensation and job to his family members.
Manohar said those living on the border are the nationalist people who are staying on border area without weapon, uniform and sacrificing their lives for the motherland.
Dr Sharma said that the most affected people during the present Government regime are the farmers. He said RS Pura, Bishnah and Hiranagar belt is well known for its basmati rice production. He said the rice/ paddy which used to be sold at Rs 7000 per quintal in 2013-2014 but nobody is willing to buy even at Rs 2000 to Rs 2200 per quintal thus leaving farmers of the belt a miserable life. He said this is due to wrong policies of the present Central Government.
