JAMMU, Mar 21: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla today announced Rs 5 lakh for ambulance at SoS Home at Channi Rama. He also launched development works in Pacca Talab Brahamna Mohalla.
Interacting with residents on the occasion, Mr. Bhalla said that Government was making all out efforts to provide better infrastructure and amenities to the people in every nook and corner of the State. He asked the people to extend their cooperation in implementing the decisions on the ground for better visible results.
The Minister said that the Government was committed to provide all basic amenities to the people residing in periphery areas of the State, adding that various development projects have already been initiated to facilitate the public.
Mr. Bhalla also directed the PHE and PDD functionaries to replace worn out water supply pipes and electricity wires with new ones before the start of up-gradation work of lanes and drains in the area. He asked the Urban Engineering Environment Department (UEED) to immediately start the modernization work of nallah at Sheikh Nagar, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 5 lakh. He said locals have faced lot of hardships during monsoon due to overflowing of nallahs into their houses.
The Minister said that the main focus of the Government was to develop every corner of the State on modern lines, for which liberal funding is being provided by the Central Government.
Mr. Bhalla said the Government has approved various prestigious projects under tourism Sector in Jammu region to boost tourism industry, adding that construction work on artificial lake was in full swing and would be completed in fixed time frame at an estimated cost of Rs 110 crore. Other major projects like Peer Kho to Bahu Fort Ropeway (Gandola) would also be started at a cost of Rs 47 crore.
The Minister further said that Government has released Rs. 95.70 crore for construction of flyover from Bikram Chowk to Convent School, widening from Bikram Chowk to Satwari to 8 lane. He said the projects would be started soon for the convenience of the people.
Later, the Minister also visited SoS Home in Channi Rama and dedicated Common Hall to the orphan and mentally retarded children constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 lakh, funded by the Minister out of his constituency development fund.
Responding to the demands of SoS Home, Mr. Bhalla announced Rs. 5 lakh for purchase of ambulance out of his CDF. He said the ambulance would facilitate orphan and mentally retarded children for carrying them for their treatment in hospitals. He called upon the people to come and help these institutions voluntarily.
The Minister said Government is ready to support those NGOs, which will work for the uplift of the weaker sections of the society.
