LEH, Dec 23: Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) in collaboration with Assistant Regional Transport Office has trained 17 women in driving.
A handout stated that these women will now become self reliant.
In a ceremony here today these women were issued Driving Licenses and Certificates.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer, S.S Jamwal had grace the ceremony as the chief guest and Stanzin, District Manager SC/ST/OBC Development Corp Leh was the guest of honour while P.T Kunzang, LBA president, Rinchen Lamo, Women Nominated Councillor of LAHDC, Tashi Yangchen, Vice President LBA, Women Wing, Representative from Women Alliance, President ALOTA, Tsetan Angchok, President Taxi Union, President Hotel/Guest Association and all the women drivers were also present the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion the guest of honour said of these 17 women only three women had withdrawn loan and have got an ECO Car.
He hoped that other women may too start earning by purchasing their own cars by getting loans.
