UDHAMPUR, Dec 26: Panchs and Sarpanchs of Block Sewna in District Udhampur held a chain hunger strike at Bus Stand Pakhlai, under the chairmanship of Sansar Singh Jamwal, District President of All Jammu & Kashmir Panchayat Conference Udhampur.
Karnail Singh, Sarpanch of Pakhlai and coordinator of Sewna block of Panchayat Conference also led the hunger strike by the Panchayat Conference, which demanding clearance of Rs 1000 crores liabilities of MGNREGA from 2014 to 2019, increase in salary of Panchs from Rs 1000 to Rs 10000 and for Sarpanchs Rs 2500 to Rs 25000 per month, implementation of 73rd Amendment Bill in toto as implemented in other States/Union Territories in India.
They are also demanding release of Rs 25 lakhs annually of 14 FC in each Panchayat for development of rural areas.
The chain hunger strike will continue up to December 30, 2019 in remaining blocks of Udhampur District.
Sarpanchs Mukesh Kumari and Bodh Raj, Panchs Baldev Singh, Shashi Kala and others participated in chain hunger strike.
