Srinagar, Dec 28: Prof (Dr) Satyabhama Razdan of Kashmir University’s Sanskrit Department has been awarded with Sahitya Saraswati Award by Akhil Bhartiya Vidvat Parishad, Varanasi.
Prof Razdan has been awarded for her contributions in Sanskrit and Linguis-tics during function organized by the Parishad earlier this week. Qualified in subjects of Sanskrit and Linguistics, Prof Razdan has authored four books and 55 research papers.
She has translated award winning books and research papers from Kashmiri and Punjabi into Hindi for Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu.
In the year 2006-07 she brought out the first issue of the tri-lingual research journal Padma Parag published by the Department of Sanskrit, University of Kashmir.
She said that the rich tradition of marvelous Sanskrit language is the source not only for understanding the Indian civilization and its socio-economic literary and religious heritage but also to understand the long chequered history of Kashmir.
Prof Razdan has been working inceasingly and competed with all the challenges courageously to keep the Department of Sanskrit functional even during the adverse period in Kashmir. It is being dedicated to her dedication, sincerity and hard work that Department of Sanskrit, Kashmir University has been earning applauds from all the corners of the country.
