JAMMU, Dec 28: Deputy Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Purnima Sharma here today inspected Kanak Mandi area and listened public problems.
Locals informed the Deputy Mayor that there only five street lights were there in entire Kanak Mandi market which glow during the daytime and remain off during night.
They also raised sanitation issues caused due to loading-unloading of stock by the shopkeepers.
Another major issue which was brought to the notice of Deputy Mayor was the nuisance caused by encroachment of footpaths by shopkeepers, Khokhas and Pahadis.
Responding to all this, the Deputy Mayor directed the X-En Electrical JMC to get more street lights installed in the area and ensure that they remain off during the day and glow during night.
She further directed the Health Officer JMC to look into the sanitation problems of the area and fine heavily anyone caught creating nuisance.
Officials from the enforcement wing of JMC were directed to cease any material encroaching footpaths as it causes a lot of nuisance in the congested market area.
