JAMMU, Dec 30: Indian Institute of Management Jammu and Dr Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowe-rment, GoI, today signed a memorandum of understanding for collaboration on research and training.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Thawar Chand Gehlot, Cabinet Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr Milind Kamble, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, Dr B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, Ram Prasad Meena, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Dr Devendra Singh, Director, DAIC.
The purpose of the MoU is to promote collaboration, cooperation and interaction between IIMJ and Dr Ambedkar International Centre on research, training, capacity building and organizing joint conferences and seminars. As part of MoU, DAIC will provide financial support to five Ph D Scholars per year to Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled caste candidates. This will promote and foster scholarship amongst the marginalized community. Further, DAIC will support five Post-Doctoral scholars per year for the duration of one year.
IIM Jammu will conduct Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) for academicians under OBC, EWS, SC, ST and DAP categories. The FDPs will focus on curriculum development and review, up gradation of teaching skills, exposure to new pedagogies, and on research skills. The programs will be organized in accordance with IIM Jammu rules and will be sponsored by DAIC.
The MoU also envisions organizing leadership programs for Indian Academics, Officers and Professionals under OBC, EWS, SC, ST and DAP categories. The programs will be targeted at participants from the Corporate Sector, Government employees and professional working in the domains of Social Justice, and Social and Financial Inclusion.
