SAMBA, Jan 1: Former minister and District Congress Committee (DCC) president for Samba, Manjit Singh today condemned ruling BJP for its anti-Jammu policies where youth have lack of job opportunities, and opposition political parties activities are being curved using police force.
“Is it an undeclared emergency in Jammu and Kashmir where only ruling party can hold public meetings and others are detained whenever they speak in public?” questioned former Minister during a meeting of Congress workers at Vijaypur.
The former minister was concerned about the restrictions imposed on the activities of political parties especially Congress Party.
“Yesterday, our leaders including chief of JKPCC, GA Mir were put under house arrest without any justification even as the authorities initially agreed to allow them for their scheduled visit to Udhampur and Ramban,” he said while speaking in the meeting.
“It seems BJP Government has made up mind to not allow democratic activities of political parties, which is just right of the political parties,” he alleged.
“They don’t allow anyone except their leaders who can go anywhere in the Union Territory and hold public meetings without any disruption, while opposition parties struggle to hold meetings with their cadre in other districts outside Jammu,” he regretted.
“Jammu district has been turned into prison for Congress Party and out of this district, they are kept under surveillance as if we are doing something which is against democracy or the country,” Majit maintained.
He threatened that Congress Party will not keep mum over the authoritarian attitude of the Government. “We will be on roads for our rights,” he said,
He termed the action of the Government as illegal and against Indian Constitution. He said Congress leaders not being allowed to do their activities and they are being put under house arrest.
“Why opposition is being prevented from doing political activities? Whether administration want Congress activities to come on roads in protest against the undemocratic means adopted by the authorities?” Manjit aksed.
Those who address the meeting included, Babbal Gupta, Ch. Bachan Lal, Block president  Ramgarh,  Capt Mohan Lal Sharma, Block president Vijaypur, Bharat Bushan, president OBC Cell Samba district,  Joginder Lal Sarpanch Vijaypur and Ch Ajit Lal.
