State Level Committee approves Rs 10 cr MSDP proposal for Leh

JAMMU, Mar 22: The State Level Committee headed by Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday today took stock of the Multi-Sectoral Development Plan (MSDP) for Leh district.
The Government of India during the 11th Five Year Plan had launched the programme to plug the development deficit of identified minority concentration districts in the country, thereby improving their socio-economic parameters and basic amenities in line with priority attached to the policy of inclusive growth. The MSDP was launched in Leh district from year-2009-10 and is implemented by line departments of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh.
The Committee approved the additional plan proposals to the tune of Rs 10 crore under the programme for the year 2012-13 during 12th Five Year Plan. The plan envisages construction of 60 ICDS units at an estimated cost of Rs 3.9 crore for Leh, Khaltsi, Nobra, Nyoma, Kharu and Durbuk blocks. It also proposes construction of class rooms and residential hostels in far-flung areas of Leh including Hanlay, Chumathang, Sumoor, Saspol, Tangste etc at an estimated cost of Rs 3.93 crore.
The plan also envisages Rs 0.4 crore for improving health, Rs 1.31 crore for PHE and Rs 0.45 for development of rural electrification infrastructure.
The Chief Secretary while laying emphasis on following all aspects of the programme underlined the need for dovetailing resources to ensure envisaged outcomes and accelerated growth and socio-economic development of these identified far-flung areas.
The approved Plan proposal will be submitted to the Ministry of Minority Affairs GOI for release of funds.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, Leh T. Anchok briefed the committee about the MSDP-Action Plan implemented during the 11th Five Year Plan period.
