JAMMU, Mar 22: Government has dis-engaged more than 100 Special Police Officers (SPOs) in Udhampur district.
In a written reply to the question of JKNPP MLA Yashpal Kundal in the Assembly today, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that 141 SPOs were dis-engaged during the last one year in the district.
The reason for their disengagement included unauthorised absence, involvement in cases and their non-joining, besides selection of some in Police and other departments, he said.
He further said that 1,852 SPOs have been regularised in Jammu and Kashmir Police as Constables and Followers under comprehensive policy of 2009.
A proposal for enhancement of honorarium in respect of SPOs from existing Rs 3,000 per month to Rs 5,000 per month has been recommended to Ministry of Home Affairs, Omar said adding, that the matter is being vigrously pursued with the Government of India.
