Abolition of Toll Post

Sir,
Refer news item ‘Now, Govt implements’ One Nation One Tax’ in J&K DE Jan 1, 2020.
The decision of the Government to abolish toll post at Lakhanpur has been highly welcomed by almost all sections of society, including traders in this newly carved out Union Territory. It was a long pending demand of the people here. It was indeed a big burden on the people of Jammu & Kashmir. After Goods Services Tax (GST) came into effect, it was supposed to be abolished, but for political purposes, it was allowed to function smoothly. With its abolition, goods are likely to become cheaper which will be a big boon to every section of consumer. Though abolition of toll post may hit local industrialists, their concerns should be taken note of, and a way found to redress their woes. One section of society must not benefit at the cost of other section of society. A balanced approach is needed for over all progress and prosperity of the Union Territory. The effected traders suggestions in this regard should be given a due thought. One can however, say with certainty that it is another step towards integration of India. One Nation One Tax sounds very pleasing to ears.
