14 PoK returnees get bail

SRINAGAR, May 13:
A local Court has granted bail to 14 people, including seven women, who were arrested recently after their return from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) via Nepal.
On a tip-off 14 persons, including women residents of (PoK) were arrested at Pantha Chowk on Srinagar-Jammu highway on April 29.
They confessed that that had gone to PoK for receiving arms training several years ago. However, they had married to PoK girls and some of them had children also.
The arrested persons said, they arrived at Nepal and later crossed the border illegally to enter India.
They however, managed to reach Pantha Chowk here from where they were arrested. However, no case was registered against 22 children while men had been booked under section 2/3 of Egress and Internal Movement Control ordinance ( EIMCO) and women under section 14 of the Foreigners Act.
A sub judge here granted them bail after hearing the arguments from both the sides.
Hundreds of Kashmiris had returned alongwith their POK wives and children through Nepal in the past few years. Majority of them had later surrendered in police stations of their respective areas.
The Government has also decided to allow the return of Kashmiris who are still in POK and wanted to lead a normal life here.
A number of cases had been cleared after the Army also approved their names for return from PoK. (UNI)
