Congress seeks protection to land, jobs in J&K

JAMMU, Jan 3: Seeking restoration of full statehood with adequate legal and constitutional safeguards of the protection of rights of locals to land and jobs, JKPCC has raised questions to BJP for depriving the people of the State of these safeguards to fulfill their political agenda, without ascertaining the sentiments and aspirations of people.
Reacting to the claims of the BJP that the Central Govt is working on framing policy to incorporate certain provisions to protect the rights of the locals to jobs and land now, when it has felt the heat of the large scale resentment, post abrogation of these special protections available to the people prior to August 5, 2019, JKPCC said that BJP should also explain to the people why it first totally nullified all these protections without taking into account the necessity of continuing such provisions for benefit of people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions, keeping in view the distinct culture, identity and backwardness of the erstwhile state.
“It seems the BJP Government acts first and thinks later, as is evident from their present stand on these issues. The Congress party stands for restoration of full statehood with constitutional guarantees for safeguarding the identity, culture and rights to land and jobs to the locals, as per aspirations of people and anything short of it will not be acceptable to the people of three regions,” JKPCC spokesman said.
