‘Hit and Run’ case solved

JAMMU, Jan 3: Nagrota police have claimed to solve a ‘Hit and Run’ case by arresting the accused.
“On January 1, police post Sidhra received a phone call that an unidentified vehicle hit and killed on the spot a pedestrian at Sidhra bridge,” a police official said.
He said that when the police reached the spot, the driver of the vehicle involved in the mishap had fled from the spot along with his vehicle. The official said a case FIR number 02/2020 under section 279/304-A IPC was registered in this connection and investigation taken up.
“Police teams were swung into action and some leads were developed that the suspected vehicle was having registration number ending with 01, and it ran towards Udhampur. Further leads were developed and parties were dispatched to Udhampur and all the local car repairing shops were searched,” the official added.
He said that the police party of police post Sidhra headed by Incharge police post SI Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota, Mohan Lal Sharma finally achieved success and the car bearing number JK14E/7101 was found in a workshop and on questioning, the owner of vehicle confessed his involvement in the accident.
“The driver of the car identified as Suresh Singh son of Pooran Singh, resident of Narsoo nallah (Udhampur), was arrested,” the official added.
