SDM Gulmarg warns of legal action against encroachers

SRINAGAR, Jan 6: Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gulmarg today said that the legal action will be initiated against those who have encroached upon the land of Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) and has started illegal constructions.
“The whole state land of estate Gulmarg falls into the domain of the Gulmarg Development Authority and all type of permissions including permission for construction activity are granted by the Building Operation Controlling Authority (BOCA) under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla on the basis of the Court Commissioners’ recommendations,” the SDM said.
He further said that GDA is headed by Chief Executive Officer who looks after the whole affairs of it and he (SDM) has no role in any sort of construction work at Gulmarg in any manner whatsoever or granting permission for transportation of construction material to Gulmarg.
Stating that the very recently the inhabitants of Chanpora Gonipora encroached upon the land at Gonipora and taking undue advantage of climatic conditions (blanket of snow and about -10 degree temperature) distributed the same amongst themselves and rapidly started construction work there, the SDM said taking cognizance of that he directed concerned Tehsildar for retrieving the land.
The officer said that annoyed by his order, these illegal encroachers protested at Press Enclave Srinagar and leveled baseless allegations, which is a sort of black mailing. He said under the garb of fake protests the illegal encroachers are hell bent to grab the precious land, which otherwise could be utilized for public purposes.
“However, the department will not succumb before these illegal encroachers and law will take its own course to restore the original position of the land encroached by the protestors,” the SDM asserted, adding, the legal action shall be initiated against the violators.
