Moily-Gehlot launch gas-oil production in Cairn’s second oil field in

BARMER, Mar 23:  The sale of gas from the Cairn’s Raageshwari Gas terminal and production of crude oil from its Ashwariya oil field commenced formally today. Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister M Veerappa Moily and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched formally the production of oil and sale of gas in a ceremonial held at Nagana in this district today. The oil production at the company’s Mangla Oil Field has already been progressing well.
The land mark development that would provide a big boost in oil production in the Barmer-Sanchor basin in the Thar desert comes close on the heels to the decision of putting a 9-MT oil refinery in the district as a Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Rajasthan Government joint  venture.
The MoU for this mega Rs 37,000 crore project was signed between the HPCL and the state on March 14 in Jaipur in the presence of Mr Moily and Mr Gehlot.
