Dy Mayor listens problems of Market Associations

JAMMU, Jan 9: Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma here today called a meeting of representatives of prominent Market Associations.
Speaking in the meeting representatives of Market Associations raised the issue of sanitation and said that no garbage collection takes place on Sundays and other holidays resulting in accumulation of garbage on roads.
The Dy Mayor asked the Association to avoid throwing garbage on the roads and keep it till garbage collection auto or sanitary worker arrives. She directed the Health Officer that garbage collection autos should make more rounds of the market.
The Market Associations also said that public toilets at Gumat, Vivekanand Chowk, Kanji House and Lower Hari Market are in bad condition and need maintenance and Caretaker Room. The Dy Mayor ordered for proper maintenance of these places.
The Market Association also demanded removal of illegal vending units and vehicles outside workshops at Gumat Bazaar causing problem and the Dy Mayor directed the Enforcement Officer for anti-encroachment drives at these places.
The Association also demanded provision for drinking water and the maintenance of street lights for which the Dy Mayor directed Executive Engineer to get all the water coolers and street lights at all the markets functional.
