Katra Police foils attempts of smuggling drugs, liquor to holy town

KATRA, Jan 11: Continuing its drive against smuggling of narcotics and liquor to the holy town, Katra Police arrested a drug peddler and two bootleggers besides affecting seizure of intoxicants and illicit liquor.
The arrests and recoveries were affected by SHO PS Katra, Inspr Pardeep Gupta under the supervision of SDPO Katra Vivek Shekhar and ASP Katra Naresh Singh.
Reports said that Police laid a special naka at Banganga road near Govt Hr Secondary School Katra and intercepted one Gourva Manotra of Matyal who was on way to Ban Ganga. 80 Tramadol Capsules were recovered from his possession. Police arrested him on the spot and later registered a case FIR number 03/2020, U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act against him at Police Station Katra.
In another success, IC PCP Nomain, ASI Romesh Lal along with a Police party laid a naka at Nomain and recovered 25 quarters of J&K Excise liquor from the possession of one Narinder Singh of village Bhangara Khalsa, Udhampur, when he was coming towards Katra town. Police arrested the accused and registered a case FIR number 04/2020, U/S 188 IPC at Police Station Katra.
In a similar case, Police party during naka checking at Fountain Chowk Katra, recovered 13 quarters of J&K Excise liquor from the possession of Roshan Singh of village Kundrorian Katra, when he coming towards Main Bazar Katra. Besides arresting the accused, Police registered a case FIR number 05/2020 U/S 188 IPC in this connection at Police Station Katra.
