Khush Dev Maini’s book on Darbar Laar Sharief released

Minister for Forest, Main Altaf Ahmed and Minister for PHE Taj Mohi-ud-Din along with other dignitaries releasing book 'Darbar Laar Sharief' at Jammu on Saturday.

JAMMU, Mar 23: ‘Mata-e-Faqr-o-Danish, Darbar Baba Sahib ji Tareekh ki Roshni Mein’, the Urdu book about evolution and history of Darbar Laar Sharief Wangat Kashmir-the most venerated shrine of Gujjars and Pahari community, was released in a solemn but impressive function attended by a jam-packed audience at the Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, here today. 

The chief guest of the function was Sadiq Raja ‘shehjadanashin’ of venerated Sufi shrine at Sarhand while Mian Bashir Ahmed Laravi, the ‘shehjadanashin’ of the Darbar Laar Sharief, and spiritual leader of Gujjars presided over the function.
Those present on the presidium included Mian Altaf Ahmed, Minister for Forest and Environment and Ecology, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minster for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control, Kush Dev Maini, the writer of the book who hails from Poonch.
Mian Altaf , in his welcome address, said that it was with grace of God that wish of his father Baba Bashir Ahmed to have a book on Darbar Laar Sharief has been fulfilled. He said that the book is not only about evolution and history of the Darbar Baba Sahib but also about the history of centuries old Sufi philosophy and its tradition as practiced by Gujjars in J&K.
He thanked K D Maini, for working very hard to complete the book.
Hassan Parwaz, well know Gojari writer and broadcaster, read a comprehensive review of the book which while tracing the beginning of the Naqashbandi Sufi Silsala, highlights the lives and contributions of the generations of shehajadnashins of Darbar Laar Sharief , Wangat, their special love for the people of Rajouri and Poonch, struggle for empowerment of the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities as well as constructive and active role played by them in political scene of the State as well as the nation.
He said the pages of dairies of Baba Sahib Mian Bashir Ahmed which have also been appended in the book are chronicles of the times that record minor and major details like meetings with Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi and Sheikh Abdulla along with details about community and public meetings.
Iqbal Nazeem , the veteran Gojari writer, scholar who has dedicated his life for the development of Gojari langiage and culture, compeered the event. Other highlight of program was recital of Gojari Sufiana and folk poetry sung by well known singers.
Prominent personalities also present on the occasion included Shabir Ahmed Khan, Minister of State for Health, Kafeel-ur Rehman, Vice Chairman, Advisory Board for Pahari Speaking People, Javed Rana, MLC, Mohammad Yusaf Teing, former Deputy Chairman Legislative Assembly, former minister Talib Hussain, Choudhary Lal Mohammad Sabar, former MLC, Khalid Hussain, Mohammad Aslam, Javed Rahi and Liaqat Jafari.
