Governor approves Shrine Board support for promotion of Dogri Literature

JAMMU, Mar 23: Governor N. N. Vohra, who is also the Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, has approved a proposal for providing appropriate support to the Dogri Sanstha Jammu for undertaking the translation and publication of one well known Dogri book into Hindi and English every year with a view to ensuring its wider dissemination and enabling Hindi and English knowing readers to have the opportunity of reading books written in the Dogri language.
The Governor hoped that the Shrine Board’s support to the Dogri Sanstha will help the Dogri language to flourish and its literature reach a much larger audience.
Giving further details, Navin K. Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB informed that one book in Dogri, in prose or poetry, will be selected every year by a Committee comprising Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu and Member Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, as its Chairman, and Dr. Ved Kumari Ghai, Prof. Lalit Magotra, Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri and Prof. Shashi Pathania as its Members, for translation and publication into Hindi and English.
This decision has been taken consequent to the Dogri Sanstha, Jammu, approaching the Shrine Board for help in promoting the Dogri language and literature.
