JAMMU, Mar 23: The irate people including the representatives of Beopar Mandal Chadwal and Hiranagar, Matador Unions, Bus Unions, Truck Unions, BJP activists staged a demonstration at Chadwal disrupting the movement of vehicular traffic on National Highway in protest against the collection of Road Tax by National Highway authorities.
The protestors warned the Government to revoke the decision as the people from all walks of life will otherwise be forced to launch a massive agitation against the same.
They said that it was not an Express Highway on which the Road Tax will be charged from vehicles as it is a State connectivity Highway.
The protestors urged the Government not to thrust this anti people decision on the masses of the State who are already paying various taxes to Government including Road Tax, Permit Tax, Passenger Tax, and Entry Tax at Lakhanpur Toll Plaza and were not in a position to bear any more tax in these tough days.
