Unaccounted State assets

It is unacceptable that the Government has adopted nonchalant attitude in regard to questions raised by several members in the Legislative Assembly about the status of State property in different parts of the country like Mumbai, Kolkata, Hisar, Chandigarh and Amritsar. Large properties were acquired by the State during the reign of Maharaja Hari Singh. These comprise residential accommodation, lands, shops and other properties. According to the members of the LC, the State has more than one thousand kanals of land worth crores of rupees in Hissar but nobody knows its status. Likewise about a hundred kanals of land at a prestigious locality in New Delhi remains in the possession of MES. The members are justified in demanding an answer from the Government describing who is in possession of what property and where, what is the status, how long have these been given on lease and by whom and for what reasons etc. These are very pertinent questions. The members are right in demanding more accommodation in big cities so that the people of the State standing in need of medical assistance available in the capital cities are provided with some relief.
The members have raised questions on flawed administration of Kashmir House on 5, Prithvi Raj Road accusing the administration of not being fare in providing accommodation to needy State subjects and working in a highhanded fashion. Even the sanitation and other physical facilities in the Kashmir House were subject of severe criticism. It is the responsibility of the Ministry of Hospitality and Protocol to look to the issue and provide satisfactory answer to the questions raised in regard to neglected State property in different cities of the country.
