JAMMU, Jan 18: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee has strongly condemned the political parties for misleading people, particularly the minorities of the country on the enactment of Citizenship Amendment Act (CCA) and engineering violence to disturb the normal life of common man, thus spoiling the social and secular fabric of this great nation.
In a meeting of its executive members held at its Office, Rohi Morh, R S Pura Road, Jammu, the members appreciated PM Narendra Modi and his Government for taking such a bold historical step which was long awaited.
While interacting with the members in the meeting, President Gurdev Singh along with Natar Parkash said that JKSAC fully appreciates and supports Govt of India for enacting CCA. He termed this Act as a historical which would help lakhs of refugees who have been thrown out by the Islamic neighboring countries. He said that CCA has brought new life to these Refugees.
He said that despite Nehru – Lialquat Ali Khan pact in 1950 for protection of minorities in both India and Pakistan, the agreement was disregarded by the successive Pak Government, which suppressed Hindu / Sikhs and other non-Muslim minorities through forcible conversion and abduction of their women which resulted in their migration to India, their native country. “These migrated Refugees were starving hard to get Citizenship Rights since long and even then PM Dr Manmohan Singh wanted to give citizenship rights to these people, but he could not do so due to certain domestic political compulsions within and outside the party,” he added.
JKSAC leader alleged that certain political parties having vested interest are spreading miss information and generating mistrust, chaos and confusion among the fellow citizens, particularly Muslim community over the passage of CCA for their vote bank. “CCA has been formulated to grant Citizenship Rights only to persecuted minorities not others and is not going to snatch rights of any other community. This was a long pending legitimate demand of these minorities and today they have been served justice by Government of India and now they can live their lives with dignity and honour,” he added and reiterated that DP’s of 1947 from PoK fully support and appreciate this historical step as they have also gone through the same pathetic plight, sufferings and still awaiting their final settlement.
Other who spoke, included Dawarka Nath, Master Yog Raj, Harjeet Singh and Rajesh Khajuria.
