JAMMU, Jan 18: Former Minister and senior BJP leader, Bali Bhagat today said that Congress has reconciled to the fact that restoration of Article 370 was not in the interests of the people of J&K so party has ultimately dropped this demand from its political resolution passed during the two-day meeting at Jammu.
Addressing a meeting of party workers of Raipur-Domana Assembly segment here this evening, Bali Bhagat mentioned that it took Congress over 72 long years to admit the mistake that their party leadership had committed by incorporating discriminatory Article 370 in the Indian Constitution.
“There is no mentioning of even a single word about Article 370 and Article 35-A in the political resolution passed by the Congress party”, Bhagat said while reading the resolution of the Congress party. “Since August 5, the day when BJP Union Government had abolished this discriminatory Article, Congress has been befooling people but ultimately better sense prevailed among Congress leaders”, Bhagat said and added that Congress leadership was responsible for backwardness and uneven development in the erstwhile state of J&K.
Daring Congress leaders to raise the demand of restoration of Article 370 in J&K, Bhagat said that Article 370 was a history now and Congress leadership has realized that people of J&K were happy with the abrogation of this Article.
Launching a scathing attack on leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad for trying to instigate the people by launching vicious campaign, Bhagat said that recent statements of Azad are highly provocative. “Since August 5, Azad and some other leaders of Congress were desperately trying to instigate the people”, he said and expressed satisfaction that people of J&K were not giving ear to statements of those leaders who have exploited them for years together.
