RAMBAN, Jan 22: A youth was killed when his car was hit by a boulder in Ramsu area of Ramban, on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway today.
Official sources said that mishap took place when 25-year-old, Shakeel Ahmed Bhat, son of Gulzar Ahmed Bhat, resident of Noor Bagh, Srinagar was on way to Srinagar from Jammu in his Alto car No. JK01F/ 5133. When he was crossing Panthyal land sliding zone, a boulder fell down from the hillock on his vehicle, killing him on the spot.
Later, his body was retrived from the vehicle with hard efforts and then shifted to Ramsu Hospital by Quick Response Team of the Police, deployed along the highway.
This is the third death on the highway within last three days. Earlier, Belero vehicle came under a big boulder in which two persons including a young woman, were killed.
