76% candidates declared successful

Girls outshine boys, secure top positions

Srinagar, Jan 22: Keeping up with the trend, girls have once again outshined boys in the annual 12th class examination in Kashmir division with girls securing the top position in all the four streams.
As per the details given out by the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE), the pass percentage is 76. The total number of candidates who were enrolled were 46599, while as the number of the candidates who passed was 35454.
In Science stream, with 98 per cent marks, Humera Rashid of K.I.E Higher Secondary Lasjan has secured first position, Isha Bashir of Mallinson Girls Higher Secondary School Sheikh Bagh got the second position with 98 per cent marks, while as Sadiq Peerzada of Tyndale Biscoe, Sheikh Bagh took third position in the stream with 97.6 marks.
In the commerce stream, Ilsa Gulzar of Green Valley Higher Secondary, Elahi Bagh Srinagar has secured the first position with 97.2 per cent marks, Muhammad Sameer Matta of Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Jawahar Nagar took second position with 96.2 per cent marks, while as Zuha of Green Valley Higher Secondary, Elahi Bagh Srinagar got third position in the Commerce stream with 96 per cent marks.
Further, in case of arts stream, all the first three positions have been secured by girls. Atya Tabassum of Women Education Institute, Lal Bazar has secured first position with 96.2 per cent marks, Aalimah of Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh got second position with 95.6 per cent marks, while as Raifah Magray of Women Education Institute, Lal Bazar took third position with 95.2 per cent of marks.
In Home Science stream as well, all the three top positions were bagged by girls, with Mansha Showkat, Noor Tariq and Simra Ishtiyaq of Girls Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions by securing 96.2, 95.6 and 95.2 per cent marks respectively.
Further, as per details given out, there were 10408 candidates who passed with distinctions, while as 15685 candidates passed with first division, 7756 with second division and 1606 candidates with third division. There were 10780 candidates who were declared reappear and 365 were declared as failed.
Pertinent to mention here, the class 12th examinations were held in November, following several months long closure of schools in the Valley since August 5 last year.
