The test-firing of world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile, Brahmos, from an undersea platform for the first time off the coast of Visakhapatnam-Bay of Bengal by Indian scientists is a big step towards strengthening India’s security.
Besides, it is a step towards indegenous production of weapons in the country. There is an urgent need to give a thrust to indegenous production of weapons in the country in view of large scale bungling in importing of arms from foreign countries. The black listing of the companies involved in bribery has hit India’s modernisation programme of army.
India is dependent on foreign countries for weaponry for armed forces. This makes us to bear the whims and caprices of these countries even after paying them a good amount. To overcome this problem India should go on producing these weapons in the country.
