Two killed, one injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Jan 29: Two persons were killed and one got injured in two separate road accidents occurred today in Nagrota and Chowki Choura areas on city outskirts.
According to the reports, a truck bearing registration number PB06V-8654, which was on its way from Nagrota to Jammu, when reach Ramnagar Morh on National Highway, plunged into a 150 feet deep gorge beside the road.
The mishap occurred this morning in which cleaner of the vehicle namely Shipu (30) son of Krishan Chand, resident of Arnia was killed on the spot while the driver namely Lakhvinder (54) son of Om Parkash, resident of Arnia, received grievous injuries.
The injured man and the dead body of the deceased was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after postmortem the body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while as the injured was being provided requisite treatment. Nagrota police had registered a case in this connection and started investigation.
Meanwhile, a Baleno car being driven in a rashly manner by an unknown man this afternoon hit a pedestrian namely Rattna Devi wife of late Bodh Raj, resident of Kund Bajwal (Sunderbani) at Rah (Chowki Choura).
In the mishap, the woman died on the spot. After postmortem, the dead body of the woman was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station Akhnoor and investigation started to trace out the vehicle involved in the mishap.
