“During the searches, an AK-47 along with a magazine and 25 live rounds were recovered from his possession,” the SSP said, adding that the militant was arrested.
Abbarkar said that the arrested militant was wanted in several cases of arms and ammunition trade for many months.
The SSP said that several cases were already registered against the militant and he was on run for almost four months now. “The arrested militant used to work for different militant outfits in the past and rendered his time to expand militancy across the district. With his arrest, we’re sure that militancy related work is almost halted,” he said.
He added that the captured militant is still under interrogation and police are hopeful that more recovery will be made in the days to come.
“Back in 2007, an encounter also broke out at his house. With arrest of the militant after being on run for several months, we are sure that militancy related activities in the district will be finished”, he said.
The SSP said that a case under FIR number 16/2020 and Section 13,18-B, 38 ULA(P) Act and 7/25 A Act was registered at police station Kupwara.
