SC, ST, OBC Maha Sabha demands 27 % reservation

JAMMU, Jan 31: J&K SC, ST & OBC Maha Sabha today demanded 27 % reservation for the members of these communities in Government jobs and professional institutions.
In a meeting of the Maha Sabha held at Kalu Chak here today under the chairmanship of Madan Lal Chalotra, the speakers from various districts like Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Doda etc strongly demanded implementation of Mandal Commission report in the J&K Union Territory.
They claimed that since Mandal Commission Report has been implemented in all the UTs and many States of the country it should also be implemented in the J&K. They criticized previous Governments for not implementing this report in the state. They described them all as anti-reserved categories.
Gurbanchan Singh (chief patron) and Bodh Raj Bhagat (president) demanded that 15 % reservation be provided to the SC community members. They claimed that many states are already according them this quota.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included – Mahinder Bhagat, Ajeet Singh, Ramesh Mottan, J P Gandhi, Shah Mohd, Jatinder Bhagat, Bhagat Ram, Vijay Kumarm Prithvi Singh, Sat Paul Maneli, Gurnam Singh and others.
