KATHUA, Feb 2: Continuing the action against the illegal mining in Kathua district, a team led by District Mining Officer (DMO), Kathua, Dr Rajinder Singh Bandral along with staff members of District Mineral Office , Deputy Superintendent of Police, Border, Chadwal, Ravinder Singh, SHO Hiranagar, Police Station Officer Chadwal and other staff members and Nabi Tehsildar Sherpur, Hiranagar, Ashok Kumar Sharma have sealed five stone crushers in Tanah Nallah on the Direction of Deputy Commissioner, Kathua who are engaged in illegal Mining activities.
The DMO Kathua, Dr Bandral said that sealing orders have been issued after the numerous complaints of their illegally mining and extraction of minerals from mines during night hours despite ban on mining in J&K by Supreme Court of India, National Green Tribunal (NGT), Pollution Control Board, J&K and Department of Geology and Mining , Jammu and Kashmir.
The Stone crusher sealed are M/S Jagdamba, M/S Baba Peer Stone Crusher, at Mangar Khad ,M/S Secrener, M/S Sai and Sons Stone Crusher , M/S Jai Durga Stone Crusher and Peer Baba Associate.
It may be recalled that recently the team of senior officers of Geology and Mining Department visited Kathua after receiving reports of illegal mining in Ravi belt and protest staged by Ravi Action Committee. The team led by Joint Director of the Department and other senior officers were attacked by the mining mafia from Punjab who were involved in illegal mining in the area.
Taking serious exception the Department and district administration Kathua tightened its noose on mafia in the district following which five crushers were sealed in the district today.
