Delegation takes up issues with LG Ladakh

KARGIL, Feb 2: A delegation of District Congress Committee members, Councillors, BDCs members and party workers met Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur during his visit to Kargil and submitted a memorandum highlighting various issues of public importance.
The delegation was led by Zakir Hussain, General Secretary, DCC Kargil.
The delegation had detailed interaction on various issues with the Lieutenant Governor. The issues highlighted and discussed during the interaction included demand for establishment of the Union Territory Headquarter at Kargil and Leh on half yearly rotational basis. Regarding opening of Zojila Pass, the delegation urged for early opening and restoration of the vehicular traffic on this crucial route.
They also urged for arrangements for overcoming the prevailing acute shortage of essential commodities in the market at the earliest so that the sufferings of the people could be ameliorated.
Regarding the introduction of CBSE courses in schools of Ladakh, the delegation urged and stressed on the need of taking all the stakeholders from Kargil into confidence before taking a final decision in this regard.
They also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor for arrangement for human resource, building capacities of teachers and relevant infrastructure before introducing the CBSE course.
Regarding the formulation of rules for recruitment of the Group B and Group C posts, the General Secretary DCC Kargil demanded that these recruitments should be done at the respective district (Kargil and Leh) level under the supervision of the LAHDC and district administration as per past practice.
He also urged that equal representation should be given to Government officials from Kargil District in regard to placement of officials in the LG Secretariat. Regarding formation of Planning and Monitoring Committee, he demanded that appropriate representation should be given to Kargil District for equitable and effective development.
The delegation also demanded for immediate replacement of life saving machines at the District Hospital Kargil, which were damaged due to a fire incident, early re-bidding and execution of work at Zojila Tunnel Project and early expansion of Kargil airport.
Lieutenant Governor assured the delegation that he will take up appropriate actions regarding the demands in a time bound manner.
